3D Printing
The AMS provides users with a wide range of 3D printing options and tools to support any and all user projects. Our machines include several Prusa MK4s – carefully tuned for exceptional print quality – as well as BambuLabs and resin printers for more advanced prints.
Our professional-grade printers are typically reserved for research groups, giving students a chance to explore more complex materials and printing techniques for specific projects. Whether you are new to 3D printing, need a print for class, or just printing for fun, our mentors are here to help you get started.
There are 9 consumer Prusa printers at the AMS. They are free for all students and faculty to use and are tuned to print at very high quality.
The AMS has 5 Bambu Lab X1C printers available for use. These printers offer a larger build volume as well as multi-colored printing.
The Formlabs Form 2 and Form 3 resin printers are SLS printers reserved for research projects and prints that need very high precision. To use one of these printers, chat with a mentor about your project specifications!
The Stratasys J55 PolyJet is a revolutionary full-color 3D printer that can resin print in a full spectrum of colors. This printer is reserved exclusively for research prints.

Laser Cutting

The AMS has two laser cutters available for general use: the Omtech and Glowforge. The Glowforge is great for smaller, fast-turn around projects, while the Omtech provides a much bigger cutting area and is one of the largest laser cutters accessible to students on campus.
We keep a large selection of scrap plywood and acrylic on hand that anyone is welcome to use. If you have a particular material in mind for a project, we encourage you to bring your own to the space. Mentors are always available to help prepare files and set up cuts.
Electronics Prototyping
Our electronics station is fully equipped for prototyping and small-scale circuit work, including hardware that is free for use. We offer multiple soldering stations with irons, solder, wires of various gauges, snipping tools, etc. The station also has measurement tools, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies. A wide selection of components such as resistors, LEDs, transistors, breadboards, and other essential hardware are available for general use.

Craft Station

We also offer several crafting tools and materials. Our primary use craft station tools include a Brother PE800 Embroidery Machine, Brother XR3774 Sewing Machine, Cricut Maker, Cricut EasyPress 2, and a 2-size Button Press. Additionally, we provide a huge variety of embroidery threads, scrap fabric, vinyl, sticker paper, and free to use button backings. The Craft Station also includes a computer set up with softwares configured for each tool. Chat with a mentor about how to get started on any of these machines!
Wood Room Tools
Wood Shop
Our wood shop, located past the double doors in the space, has a variety of both powered and manual wood tools. This includes several powerful saws, sanders, jointer/planers, drills, and hand tools. We also have a large collection of scrap wood, various nuts and bolts (metric and imperial), and more that is free for use.
We ask that all users of the wood shop follow the buddy system for safety purposes. Mentors are also available to assist on any projects requiring the wood room!

CNC: Wood and Tormach Metal

The wood shop also features a Shapeoko CNC Router and a Tormach PCNC for metal. These machines are available for advanced projects requiring custom wood or metal parts. Operating these tools requires mentor supervision and users must complete training procedures beforehand.
To learn more about using these machines, please come speak to a mentor.
